Blessed be the Lord!
for he has heard the voice of my supplications
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
Psalm 28:6-7
I had a good friend, Mary, who told me to record my thoughts when I had something I wanted to write about. So the other day I just happened to be listening to a voice recording I made on 5/21/21 and came upon this one. It surprised me and I wanted to share it. It went like this:
“I met Jesus in the hall today. I was complaining about my sling, my immobilizer. I just had a reverse shoulder replacement. I said I wished I could just lose the next three weeks because then it would be off. And He said to me, “Don’t give up. You don’t ever want to give away part of your life. Remember there’s a reason that you’re here and there’s a reason that this is happening.” I realized I should think twice before I say something like that. And who better to remind me of that than Jesus Himself?
Many times in our lives, we question or complain about something happening to us. We must remember that God has a plan for us and everything that happens to us is part of that plan. We may not understand why Jesus has written this part of our story, but someday we can ask Jesus about it. I don’t believe in coincidences. We only need to know there is a reason and God plans for our good.
I suffered this feeling of not being able to take where my life was going one other time in my life. It was while I was a patient at Providence Place. I was sitting on my bed crying and saying, “I just can’t do this anymore.” A nurse who was very pregnant came in my room and sat on my bed. She put her arms around me and said, “Don’t say that. You have a God who loves you very much and He has stayed with you this entire time so you can survive this.” I guess God sent me a “life raft” to get me through this episode because the feeling left me and what remained was gratitude for a compassionate God who would never forsake me. It was a good lesson for me to learn.
It is good to always remember God has a plan for each of us. And it’s for our good.
“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
